The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red, orange, and yellow alerts across multiple districts of Odisha due to heavy to extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected from June 18 to June 24, 2025.
A well-marked low-pressure system over Gangetic West Bengal and its associated cyclonic circulation is set to move northwestward, triggering intense monsoon showers across Odisha.

Red Warning (Take Action): Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Balasore.

Yellow Warning (Be Aware): Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are forecasted for Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Ganjam.
Fishermen & Coastal Advisory:
The IMD has warned fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea, as wind speeds are expected to reach 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph along the Odisha coast until June 19.
