Balasore: The Balasore district administration has temporarily relocated over 10,000 individuals from 10 villages to a different location in anticipation of the missile test scheduled for Wednesday.
The DRDO has finalized the necessary range preparations for the missile test at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur. The launch will take place from pad number 3 at the ITR.
In preparation, the Balasore district administration has arranged for the temporary evacuation of 10,581 residents from 10 villages within a 3.5 km radius of the launch pad before the missile’s test firing, according to a revenue officer.
The official stated, “As a precautionary measure, these arrangements include adequate compensation for the affected individuals.”
On Tuesday, the district administration conducted a preparatory meeting, led by the Collector, Ashis Thakare, and the Superintendent of Police, Sagarika Nath, to ensure the smooth relocation of residents to nearby temporary shelters, the revenue officer reported.
The district administration has used the public address system to instruct residents of these villages to vacate their homes by 4 am on Wednesday and to stay at the camp until they are informed that it is safe to return home after the launch.
The officer noted that the compensation would be transferred to the residents’ bank accounts once they arrived at the camp.
The Balasore district administration has organized suitable accommodations for the evacuees in local schools, cyclone rehabilitation centres, and temporary tents, another revenue officer mentioned.
To aid the evacuees, at least 10 government officials have been assigned to each camp, and 22 police sections (each section consisting of nine personnel) have been mobilized.
Additionally, provisions for drinking water and a temporary health clinic for those relocated have been made, the officer added.
