Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Tuesday (June 11) appointed the BJP Legislative Party leader in the State Assembly as the new Chief Minister of Odisha and invited him to form the new government in the state.
“In exercise of the powers conferred on me by clause (1) of Article 164 of the Constitution of India, do hereby appoint Shri Mohan Charan Majhi to be the Chief Minister of the State of Odisha,” read a communiqué from the Raj Bhawan.
In a letter addressed to Majhi, Governor Raghubar Das wrote, “Hon’ble Shri Mohan Charan Majhi Ji, I have received the Letter No.BJPOECR/273/2024 of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Odisha Pradesh dated 11th June 2024 regarding the resolution of the BJP Legislature Party electing you as the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. I congratulate you, on being elected as the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party in the Odisha Legislative Assembly”.
“I now invite you to form the new Government and request you to indicate your acceptance of the invitation,” the Odisha Governor wrote to Majhi.
