World Para Archery Series 2026 gold medalist Payal Nag received a grand felicitation at Gudighat Chhak in Muribahal block, Bolangir district.
The district administration and sports department organized the event to honor her achievement after she returned to her native village Jamunabahal.
Payal stunned the sporting world in Bangkok by defeating world number one Sheetal Devi to clinch gold for India. Villagers welcomed her with music and celebrations, proud of the glory she brought to her homeland.
Born to Bijaya Nag and Janata Nag, Payal lost both her arms and legs at the age of five due to disability. Despite challenges, she pursued archery with determination and hard work, becoming a symbol of inspiration for youth and differently-abled children.
After her victory, Payal continued training at Mata Vaishnodevi Centre in Jammu and Kashmir before returning home. Leaders, including Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag, Muribahal Block BDO Basanti Sethi, Tahsildar Jagadish Kartami, and district sports officer Parashar Bag, joined villagers and volunteers in felicitating her.
Payal expressed her next goal of winning gold at the upcoming Asian Games in September and later at the Olympics, aiming to bring further pride to India and her region.
