The recently released Spirit audio teaser has sparked a massive social media debate. The teaser introduced Prabhas as “India’s Biggest Superstar”, a title that didn’t sit well with many fans of Shah Rukh Khan.
The announcement, unveiled on Prabhas’ birthday by filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, served as the first look — or rather, sound story — from the much-anticipated film Spirit. While the teaser thrilled Prabhas fans, it also ignited a fierce online discussion about who truly deserves the “biggest superstar” tag.
Fans React to Prabhas’ ‘India’s Biggest Superstar’ Tag
The introduction line — “India’s Biggest Superstar Prabhas” — quickly went viral. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and other top Bollywood actors called the phrasing “disrespectful.”
One SRK fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“India’s Biggest Superstar? Nice try but there’s only one Badshah who rules hearts from Mumbai to Morocco — #SRK. Legacy isn’t declared on posters; it’s earned over decades of love.”
Another user shared a meme from Aryan Khan’s upcoming web series The Ba**rds of Bollywood*, mocking the claim with the line, “Ghante ka biggest superstar.”
Shah Rukh Khan, who delivered three back-to-back blockbusters in 2023 — Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki — remains the only actor with two solo ₹1000-crore hits. This made his fans even more vocal online, defending his title as India’s biggest global star.
Prabhas Fans Defend the Title
Prabhas’ loyal supporters, however, were quick to justify the description. One fan wrote:
“Sandeep Reddy Vanga got it right. Prabhas is India’s Biggest Superstar. His impact across languages is unmatched.”
Another pointed to box-office numbers, saying, “Collections prove it. Spirit just acknowledged what fans already know.”
The Baahubali actor continues to enjoy a massive fan following across South India and overseas, thanks to his pan-India appeal.
Prabhas’ Pan-India Stardom and Box-Office Journey
Prabhas became a nationwide phenomenon with SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise, which grossed over Rs 2400 crore worldwide. Although his later films — Saaho, Radhe Shyam, and Adipurush — struggled commercially, his comeback with Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD has restored his superstardom.
Kalki 2898 AD joined the Rs 1000 crore club, reaffirming Prabhas’ hold as one of India’s biggest box-office draws.
Many of his fans argue that his reach goes beyond linguistic and regional barriers — something only a few Indian actors have achieved.
Upcoming Projects: Spirit and The RajaSaab
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit stars Prabhas alongside Vivek Oberoi and Triptii Dimri in key roles. The teaser hints at a gritty, high-octane action film with Vanga’s signature emotional intensity.
Before Spirit, Prabhas will appear in The RajaSaab, a fantasy-horror film directed by Maruthi. The movie also features Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal, and will hit theatres on January 9, 2026.
The Debate Continues
The Spirit teaser may have been meant as a birthday gift to fans, but it’s turned into one of the biggest pop-culture debates online. While Prabhas’ supporters celebrate his “superstar” title, SRK loyalists insist that Badshah Khan’s legacy is unmatched.
With Spirit expected to release in 2026, the Prabhas vs SRK rivalry may just add extra buzz to one of India’s most awaited films.
