A bomb threat email sent to the Bargarh Civil Court and Sambalpur District Court triggered panic and urgent security measures late Sunday night.
Police and bomb squad teams rushed to the scene after the email warned of explosions. Court premises were evacuated, with judges, staff, and lawyers asked to leave immediately. Specialised units, including sniffer dogs, metal detectors, and cyber police, conducted thorough searches across entry points, equipment rooms, and interior sections of the complex.
The operation continued well into the night, but no explosives or suspicious items were found. Authorities suspect the threat may be a hoax, similar to a previous alert received on February 6. Nevertheless, security has been ramped up as a precaution and will remain in place until further orders.
Senior officers, including the Additional Superintendent of Police, SDPO, and Inspectors-in-Charge, supervised the inspection and response. Police have not yet disclosed details about the origin of the threat email, pending investigation.
