Koraput: Four persons were killed after a truck ran over a bike in the Jabaknadi area near Jeypore in Koraput district on Friday.
As per reports, the mishap occurred as the four individuals were riding a motorcycle on NH-326 when a truck struck and overran the bike. Tragically, at least three of them perished immediately at the scene.
The injured person was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital in a critical condition. Later, he was shifted to Koraput District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated. However, he later succumbed to the injuries.
On being informed, the Jeypore Town police arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation into the incident. The bodies have been dispatched for autopsy.
The accident significantly hindered traffic flow, resulting in vehicles being stranded and a substantial traffic jam. The police have confiscated the truck involved and are conducting a thorough investigation. However, the truck driver fled from the spot after the incident.
