In a major anti-corruption success, the Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Raghumani Sahu, former Branch Manager of SDCC Bank’s Paikmal Branch in Baragada district.
Special Judge, Vigilance, Baragada, today convicted Raghumani Sahu (Retired) in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years while also imposing a fine of Rs. 20,000.
According to the Vigilance investigation, Sahu had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from a member of the Jamseth Service Co-operative Society. The bribe was taken to facilitate the sanction of a Medium Term Non-Agricultural (MTNL) loan in favour of the complainant.
He was charge-sheeted under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department stated that it will now approach the competent authority for the stoppage of Raghumani Sahu’s pension.
