On June 30, 2026, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Kendujhar, sentenced Giri to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The court found him guilty under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Sections 409, 468, and 471 of the IPC.
Investigators revealed that Giri misappropriated government funds between 2007–08 and 2010–11 by manipulating the cement stock register of Champua Block. Odisha Vigilance had filed a charge sheet after uncovering irregularities in stock records and financial transactions.
