Puri: At least 100 passengers were trapped in the middle of the Chilika lake after a floating bridge vessel (Bhasa Pola) ferrying them got stranded midway on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the incident took place this morning when the floating bridge developed technical snag during its journey to Janhikuda from Satpada.
Two buses, and several vehicles were loaded onto the vessel, said sources.
Following the incident, officials rushed to the spot and started the repair work of the vessel. Besides, efforts are on to bring the passengers safely to shore.
