Jajpur: In response to escalating political tensions following an attack on Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sahoo, authorities in Jajpur have enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and deployed 40 platoons of police to maintain peace and order.
The district administration, led by Jajpur District Collector P Anvesha Reddy and Eastern Range DIG Satyajit Naik, conducted a flag march to reassure the public and deter further disturbances.
The tensions in Jajpur have been rising since the attack on MLA Sahoo, coupled with disputes at Biraja Haat and the arrest of Bhaba Prakash Das, the brother of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pranab Prakash Das.
The flag march, which saw participation from high-ranking officials including Superintendent of Police (SP) Yashpratap Shrimal, aimed to demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to restoring normalcy in the area.
“We have enforced BNSS 163 within Jajpur and the Biraja Haat area to ensure peace. At least 19 individuals have been arrested and forwarded to court. Efforts are ongoing to ensure calm and peace in the district,” stated DIG Satyajit Naik.
