Film director Sanoj Mishra, who recently gained attention for offering a Bollywood debut to viral sensation Monalisa from the Maha Kumbh, has been arrested in connection with a rape case.
The arrest follows the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Delhi High Court.
The Delhi Police apprehended Mishra, aged 45, in Ghaziabad after a meticulous investigation involving intelligence gathering and technical surveillance. He is accused of repeatedly assaulting a 28-year-old aspiring actress from a small town.
The victim alleges she was lured with promises of marriage and film opportunities, coerced into a live-in relationship in Mumbai, and subjected to abuse over several years.
The complainant claims that Mishra took objectionable photos and videos of her to blackmail her and forced her into multiple abortions. Investigators have reportedly gathered medical evidence to substantiate the allegations.
Mishra is now in police custody at the Nabi Karim Police Station in Delhi, and the case continues to unravel dark details about exploitation in the film industry.
