Jagatsinghpur: A farmer was killed after being struck by lightning in the Kujng block of Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Narahari Behera, a resident of Balabhadrak Saharadia village of the district.
While going to his farmland to carry out agricultural activities this afternoon, lightning struck Behera.
Eyewitnesses said Behera fell unconscious on the farmland due to a lightning strike. He rushed to the Kujang hospital in critical condition. Behera later breathed his last at the hospital while undergoing treatment.
On being informed about the incident, police reached the hospital, sent the body for post mortem, and registered an unnatural death case.
