A young woman’s body was discovered hanging behind a hotel in the Jagamara area of Bhubaneswar on Monday evening, triggering shock and serious allegations of foul play from her family.
The deceased has been identified as Tulasi Mallick, a resident of Pattamundai in Kendrapada district. Her body was found behind the Magnum Hotel at Jagamara Hill Site, which falls under the Khandagiri police station limits.
Local residents spotted the body and immediately alerted the police. Khandagiri police personnel rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem examination. Primary samples have also been collected from the scene for forensic analysis.
However, what began as a suspected suicide case has now taken a dramatic turn. Tulasi’s father and other family members have strongly alleged that she was murdered and the crime scene was deliberately staged to appear as suicide.
Speaking to the media, family members claimed that someone killed Tulasi and then tried to portray her death as self-inflicted. They have lodged a formal complaint at Khandagiri police station demanding a thorough investigation.
The Khandagiri police station in-charge confirmed that a case has been registered based on the family’s complaint and investigation is underway. “We have collected primary evidence from the spot. The exact cause of death will become clear only after the postmortem report is received,” the officer stated.
The incident has sent ripples across the state capital, with many questioning how a young woman from another district ended up dead behind a prominent hotel in Bhubaneswar.
As the family awaits justice and the postmortem report, all eyes remain on the police investigation to uncover the truth behind Tulasi Mallick’s untimely death.
Further details are expected once the postmortem findings are made available.
