Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced plans to visit India later this year after a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The announcement comes amid reports that Tesla is preparing to enter the Indian market, with plans to begin sales in major cities by the third quarter of 2025.

During their call, PM Modi and Musk discussed potential collaborations in technology and innovation between India and the United States. Their previous meeting in Washington, D.C., had seen the Prime Minister gifting Musk’s children books by Indian literary icons Rabindranath Tagore and R.K. Narayan.

Tesla’s expansion into India is reportedly gaining momentum, with the company planning to send thousands of electric cars to a port near Mumbai in the coming months. Hiring efforts for showroom and delivery roles have also begun.

Musk’s visit could mark a turning point for electric mobility in India, as Tesla’s entry into the market aligns with the country’s push toward sustainable transportation.
