Drug Peddler Held With Brown Sugar In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A drug peddler was arrested during a raid conducted by the Special Task Force in Bhubaneswar.

The accused has been identified as Lingaraj Barik (30), a native of Kakatpur in Puri. At present, he resides in plot no. 1077 under Laxmisagar Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar.

Based on intelligence input, a raid was conducted by a special team led by Laxisagar OIC P. Shyam Sundar Rao on Laxmipuja Mandap in the area and arrested the accused.

During the search operation, contraband brown sugar weighing about 12 grams worth Rs 10 lakhs was recovered from the possession of the accused. The accused couldn’t produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, following which he was arrested.

During the investigation of the criminal antecedents of the accused persons, the police found that there are 12 criminal cases in the name of the accused Lingaraj Barik in the Laxmisagar police station and one case in the Capital police station.

As the accused is a habitual offender, steps are being taken to initiate action against him under section 110 of CrPC.
