Tensions escalated near Bhainsapali Tollgate on the Sonepur road in Bolangir when a protest turned violent, resulting in an alleged attack on a vehicle driver.
The victim, identified as Manoj Bagarti, was reportedly driving through the tollgate when he was intercepted and assaulted by members of a local organization opposed to vehicular movement during the agitation.
Bagarti suffered injuries and was admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital in Bolangir for treatment. Eyewitnesses claim the attack was premeditated, sparking outrage across the local community.
A formal complaint has been registered at Puintala Police Station, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
