A case of suspected abduction has surfaced in Bhubaneswar after police recovered a driver’s car from a private hospital parking lot, but failed to trace the driver.
According to reports, driver Shesadeb Nanda had taken a vehicle on hire and left home on Wednesday night. His family later lodged a complaint at Bharatpur police station after he went missing. Police registered a case and began an investigation.
Shesadeb’s wife said she last spoke to him around 9:10 PM. Later, an unknown youth answered his phone and claimed Shesadeb had gone to the ICU, adding that the phone was charging. Since then, no calls have been answered.
Police seized the car, bearing registration number OD05T3906, from the hospital parking area. Family members alleged that Shesadeb was abducted during a hired trip and insisted he had no personal enmity with anyone.
Relatives expressed concern that the abduction may have been carried out for ransom. His wife appealed to the abductors to release him, even if they took his money and mobile phone.
Family members said Shesadeb had informed his brother that he would share details of the hired trip later that night. After that call, he went missing. Police are now investigating all angles, including possible financial motives.
