The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its second list of 111 candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, featuring a mix of senior leaders, turncoats, and newcomers.
Among the key names, former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik will contest from Mathabhanga. Pramanik, 40, previously represented the Cooch Behar Lok Sabha constituency until 2024. Actor-turned-politician Rupa Ganguly has been fielded from Sonarpur Dakshin, while Rekha Patra will contest from Hingalganj. Patra earlier contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Basirhat.
The list also includes IPS officer Rajesh Kumar from Jagatdal and lawyer-turned-politician Koustav Bagchi from Barrackpore. Former Trinamool Congress leader Tapas Roy will contest from Maniktala. Actor Papiya Adhikari has been given a ticket from Tollygunj, while Priyanka Tibrewal will contest from Entally. Dibendu Adhikari, brother of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, has been named from Egra.
The BJP’s second list underscores its strategy of combining established leaders with fresh entrants to strengthen its presence across constituencies. With 111 names announced, the party has intensified its campaign ahead of the high-stakes West Bengal Assembly elections.
