Donald Trump, President of the United States, said he believes Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly appointed Supreme Leader of Iran, is still alive despite not appearing publicly since assuming the role during the ongoing conflict in the region.

In an interview with Fox News on The Brian Kilmeade Show, Trump said he believes Khamenei may have been injured but is likely still alive. His remarks came shortly after Iranian media published statements attributed to the new leader, even though he has not been seen on camera.

Tensions Rise Amid Ongoing Conflict

The situation follows the escalation of hostilities involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which has already disrupted global energy supplies and raised concerns about international security.

According to reports, the conflict began after military strikes on February 28 targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The attacks resulted in the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, leading to the appointment of his son Mojtaba Khamenei as his successor.

Since then, the region has witnessed continued drone and missile exchanges, increasing instability across the Gulf.

Trump Urges Ships to Continue Through Key Shipping Route

Addressing disruptions to maritime traffic, Trump also commented on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic shipping route through which a significant share of the world’s oil and gas supply passes.

He suggested that commercial vessels should continue sailing through the strait despite security concerns. Trump said ships should “show some guts” and proceed with their journeys, asserting that there is little reason to fear naval threats.

The Strait of Hormuz has become a focal point of concern as tensions in the region continue to affect global energy markets and international trade.

Questions Over Mojtaba Khamenei’s Whereabouts

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains regarding Mojtaba Khamenei’s current condition and location. Reports indicate he has not appeared publicly since the conflict began.

Statements attributed to him have been broadcast on Iranian state television, where he reportedly pledged continued resistance and warned of retaliation against adversaries. According to international media reports, he also vowed to pursue revenge following the death of his father.

Observers note that Mojtaba Khamenei has long been considered close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s powerful paramilitary force.
