Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Diwali celebrations, the Commissionerate Police released guidelines for Bhubaneswar city restricting time limits for bursting of fire crackers.
DCP Prateek Singh said bursting of crackers is allowed between 8 pm and 10 pm on the Diwali night. Similarly, crackers having more than 125 decible sound are not allowed to be set off. Revelers should refrain from bursting fireworks at sensitive zones like hospitals, places where inflammable objects are kept and crowded areas.
Environment friendly crackers should be set off to reduce noise pollution.
People who burst crackers beyond the permitted time and the permitted decibel will face action, the DCP said.
Crackers should not be set off near petrol bunks, vehicles parking lots.
Similarly, people are advised to purchase the crackers from the shops having valid license.
Earlier, the government had permitted sale of crackers in some selected places. Eight such places had been selected in the Capital city for the opening of cracker shops.
