Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti conducted a detailed review of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program in Puri district.

Arriving at the Circuit House on Tuesday morning, Bharati and his team were welcomed by District Collector Dibyajyoti Parida before attending a review meeting.

During the meeting, the Collector presented a comprehensive update on the SIR progress. Puri district comprises six assembly constituencies, with six senior officials designated as Electoral Registration Officers. A total of 1,609 booths are managed by trained Booth Level Officers (BLOs), supported by 161 BLO supervisors. The district has 13,87,930 voters, and BLOs have already distributed 99.43 per cent of voter forms. While voters retain one copy, BLOs collect the signed counterpart, assisting citizens in completing the process.

Digitisation of voter forms is underway, with 40.67 per cent completed so far. Bharti raised queries regarding the SIR process, which were addressed by Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan and Collector Parida. The review was attended by senior officials, including Principal Secretary S.B. Joshi, Deputy Secretary Abhinav Agrawal, and several district-level officers.

Later, Bharti and his team visited the Shree Jagannath Temple, where they were received by sevayats, district officials, and temple administrators. The Collector honoured the guests with traditional Pattachitra artwork.

Prior to the temple visit, the team inspected booths in Pipili and Satyabadi constituencies, interacting with BLOs and supervisors to assess ground-level implementation.
