Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati claimed the FIFA Player of the Year awards in Doha on Tuesday.
Dembele, 28, played a decisive role in PSG’s historic first Champions League triumph, scoring in the 5-0 final victory against Inter Milan. He netted 35 goals across all competitions last season, including 21 in Ligue 1, finishing as the league’s top scorer. His performances cemented his place as one of Europe’s most influential forwards.
Meanwhile, Bonmati continued her dominance in women’s football by winning the award for the third consecutive year. She also secured the Ballon d’Or for the third time in a row earlier this year. Bonmati guided Barcelona to a domestic treble, reached the Champions League final, and played a key role in Spain’s run to the Euro 2025 final. Her consistency and leadership have made her a defining figure in modern women’s football.
