Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Debashish Samantaray has publicly criticized fellow Rajya Sabha member Sulata Deo following her social media remarks about the Waqf Bill voting controversy.

Referring to Deo as a “junior member,” Samantaray highlighted the need for unity and discipline within the party as emphasized by its president, Naveen Patnaik.

Samantaray revealed that party leadership was informed about alleged acts of indiscipline by certain members. He refrained from commenting on individuals but stressed the commitment of senior leaders to upholding party cohesion.

Deo had previously accused Samantaray of disrupting party harmony and dragging V.K. Pandian’s name into the controversy. She claimed that Naveen Patnaik allowed MPs to vote according to their conscience during the Rajya Sabha deliberations on the Waqf Bill.

This internal discord has raised questions about party discipline during sensitive decision-making processes.
