At least 22 Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Karregutta on Wednesday.

The operation, confirmed by Bastar IG and CRPF IG, resulted in the seizure of a large cache of arms and explosives from the encounter site.

The firefight erupted as security forces launched an intensive anti-Maoist operation in the region, targeting insurgent hideouts. Officials reported that the operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Cobra, CRPF, STF, Bastar Fighters, and the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF).

With the search operation still ongoing, authorities have heightened vigilance across the Bastar region, anticipating further resistance from Maoist cadres. Additional details regarding casualties and further strategic moves by security forces are awaited.
