DDP Notifies Sixth Positive Indigenisation List of 405 Defence Items

Rs 3,070 crore business potential under Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, has notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) comprising 405 strategically important items with an estimated business potential of Rs 3,070 crore.


The list includes Line Replaceable Units, sub‑systems, spares, components, and raw materials across defence platforms. Among them are 16 items for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and 389 items for Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs).

Key platforms covered include:

  • Air platforms: Advanced Light Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, Su‑30MKI, Light Combat Aircraft, AL‑31FP Engine
  • Armoured platforms: T‑72, T‑90, BMP‑II
  • Warships and missile systems: Konkurs‑M, Invar, MRSAM
  • Defence electronics: radars, sonars, fire control systems, satellite communication systems
  • Ammunition: High Explosive Anti‑Tank rounds and other critical equipment

The items will be indigenised through DPSU and ICG initiatives, including the ‘Make’ procedure and in‑house development, with participation from industry and MSMEs.

Since the launch of the SRIJAN Defence Portal in 2020, over 33,000 items have been offered for indigenisation, with more than 15,700 successfully developed, resulting in import substitution worth Rs 9,000 crore. Procurement orders worth Rs 10,000 crore have also been placed on domestic vendors up to March 2026.

Officials said the sixth PIL marks another step in strengthening India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, reducing import dependence, and promoting innovation under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
