In a heart-stopping TATA IPL 2025 clash at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals (DC) pulled off a dramatic one-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
A match that swung like a pendulum ended with DC successfully chasing a daunting target of 210 with three balls to spare.
LSG set a competitive 209/8, thanks to dazzling half-centuries by Mitchell Marsh (72 off 36) and Nicholas Pooran (75 off 30). Their spectacular onslaught in the middle overs left DC reeling, but Mitchell Starc (3/42) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/20) staged a late comeback, restricting LSG to a subpar finish in the death overs.
DC had a disastrous start, losing three wickets within the first two overs. However, young sensation Ashutosh Sharma rose to the occasion, smashing an unbeaten 66 off 31 balls to turn the tide. Along with Vipraj Nigam’s critical 39 off 15, Ashutosh scripted one of the most memorable victories in IPL history, sealing the win with a towering six in the final over.
DC captain Axar Patel praised the team’s resilience, while LSG skipper Rishabh Pant reflected on missed opportunities in a match that could have gone either way.
This contest will undoubtedly be remembered as a TATA IPL classic, showcasing the intensity and unpredictability of cricket’s shortest format.
