In the wake of the recent group clash during Durga idol immersion in Cuttack’s Dargah Bazaar area, the Commissionerate Police conducted a flag march on Sunday to maintain peace and boost public confidence.

The march was carried out under the supervision of senior police officials, who led teams of officers and security personnel through sensitive localities. The initiative was aimed at sending a clear message that law and order will be strictly enforced across the city.

Police Assure Safety, Urge Citizens to Avoid Rumours

“The situation is normal now. The incident is being properly investigated, but I urge people not to believe any rumours,” said DCP (Headquarters) Prakash Chandra Pal.

He further added, “If you come across any misinformation, please contact your local IIC or ACP. Separate arrangements have been made for tomorrow’s bandh.”

Senior officers stated that the flag march was conducted across multiple police limits to reassure citizens. “People are calm and cooperative. The police are with them,” officials said.

Police Action and Investigation Underway

The Commissionerate Police have arrested six persons in connection with Friday’s clash. Authorities confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible after a detailed investigation.

The flag march also aimed to prevent any further unrest and ensure that normalcy is restored swiftly.

VHP Calls for Cuttack Bandh on Monday

Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) expressed strong discontent over the incident, blaming the district administration and police for the violence. The organization has called for a Cuttack bandh on Monday, demanding accountability and stricter security measures during religious processions.
