New Delhi: Delhi Rouse Avenue Court has extended Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s ED custody till April 1 on Thursday. He was arrested on March 21 in the excise policy case.
Kejriwal’s remand was expiring today but the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought a 7-day extension for the remand of Delhi CM. However, the court granted a 4-day extension, extending the custody until April 1.
Kejriwal pleaded immediate release claiming his arrest was illegal and violated his fundamental rights. Denying immediate release order the court directed the ED to submit a report by April 1.
The ED has requested additional time in the ongoing investigation as the arrestee not cooperating by delaying the provision of login credentials to his digital devices. He has mentioned that he will decide on sharing the passwords after consulting his lawyer. If the key passwords are not provided, the search agency aims to crack them within the extended timeframe.
