In preparation for the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will convene a high-level review meeting this evening at Lok Seva Bhavan.

The focus will be twofold: addressing the recent diarrhoea outbreak in parts of the state and assessing healthcare arrangements for the grand annual festival.

Health Secretary and senior department officials will participate in the meeting, which is expected to review rapid response mechanisms, ambulance deployment, medical team mobilisation, and the availability of emergency treatment centres during the Rath Yatra. Special emphasis will also be laid on clean drinking water provision and food safety.

The Health Department has indicated the deployment of nearly 300 medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, to ensure uninterrupted health services during the festival, which draws lakhs of devotees from across the globe.

This proactive step underscores the new administration’s focus on public health and crisis management, especially as Odisha braces for monsoon-related health concerns alongside one of its largest religious gatherings.
