The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has ramped up its ‘Zero Accident Day’ initiative with daily counselling sessions and the administration of a Road Safety Pledge across all depots and operational terminals.
These sessions aim to equip crew members with road safety practices, instil accountability, and promote a commuter-first culture. Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, joined the initiative during an interactive session at CRUT’s Naraj Electric Bus Depot. Emphasising the message “Safety begins with each one of us,” she administered the safety oath to ground-level staff, underscoring their role as custodians of public trust.
Reiterating CRUT’s safety motto, “Come Home Safe,” Smt. Padhee highlighted the importance of protecting both passengers and the workforce. “As frontline service providers, CRUT’s crew holds the confidence of thousands. Let’s ensure every trip is safe, timely, and reliable,” she noted.
The campaign coincides with a major expansion in green mobility. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off 100 electric buses under the CRUT initiative. These AMA BUS services are now operational on 11 routes across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, with 8 new routes added following the fleet expansion. The newly inaugurated Naraj Depot—an eco-friendly facility built with state-of-the-art green building technology—serves as the base for these electric buses.
With a dual focus on safety and sustainability, CRUT continues its commitment to delivering inclusive, efficient, and environmentally responsible public transport across the capital region.
