Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi condemned the gang-rape of an Odia medical student in Durgapur, West Bengal, calling the incident deeply painful and unacceptable.
He demanded strict legal action against the accused and urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure exemplary punishment. The student, a native of Jaleswar in Balasore district, was assaulted near her college campus.
Majhi expressed his anguish over the incident and instructed senior Odisha officials to coordinate with West Bengal authorities. He assured that the Odisha government would provide all necessary assistance to the victim’s family.
