The Chameli Ojha controversy escalated on Wednesday as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Orissa High Court demanding a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.
The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad submitted the petition, citing the sensitivity of the case and urging strict guidelines for investigation.
The PIL requested the court to direct authorities to preserve CCTV footage from the time of the dispute and ensure that medical reports are submitted to the High Court. Petitioners argued that these steps are essential to maintain transparency and accountability in the investigation.
The case has already drawn significant public attention, with demands for an impartial inquiry into the allegations against Chameli Ojha. The petition emphasised that only an SIT probe could guarantee fairness in handling such a sensitive matter.
