Odisha launched the self-enumeration process for Census 2027 today, with Chief Secretary Anu Garg submitting her own details through the official portal.
The Directorate of Census Operations, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, in coordination with the Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Department, will conduct the first phase of Census 2027. This phase includes house listing and housing census across all 30 districts of the state.
Self-enumeration remains open from April 1 to April 15 through the SE Portal (https://se.census.gov.in). Citizens can log in and provide their household details directly. From April 16 to May 15, trained enumerators and supervisors will visit households to collect and verify information.
Chief Secretary Garg urged citizens to participate actively and provide accurate data, emphasising that the success of this national exercise depends on public cooperation. She congratulated the people of Odisha on the launch of this historic initiative.
For the first time in Indian census history, self-enumeration has been introduced, allowing individuals to submit their own information digitally. Officials highlighted that this innovation enhances transparency, efficiency, and citizen involvement.
Director Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, Joint Directors Hemant Kumar Singh and Haradhan Karmi, Assistant Director Umakant Sahu, and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Priyadarshini Jena attended the launch event.
