Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four MBBS students from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna in connection with the ongoing NEET-UG paper leak case. The arrests were made on Thursday following detailed questioning by the central probing agency.
The arrested students include three third-year MBBS students Chandan Singh ( Bihar), Rahul Anant (Jharkhand) and Kumar Shanu (Bihar) and one second-year student, Karan Jain (Bihar). The CBI has sealed three of the students’ rooms, while AIIMS authorities sealed one room at the agency’s request.
According to AIIMS Patna Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gopal Krushna Pal, the students were taken from their hostel rooms on Wednesday in the presence of senior faculty members who were informed in advance.
Dr Pal confirmed that no doctors were arrested, but four students have been taken into custody by the CBI. He stated, “We have cooperated regarding all the help they needed. We will continue to cooperate.”
“We don’t know about the involvement of students, or how they got involved, or whether they are guilty, he added.
Notably, the apex court has taken up a series of petitions that demand the recall of NEET-UG 2024 results and the re-administration of the exam, citing allegations of paper leakage and misconduct during the test.
