Looters targeted Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar today, breaking a car window and stealing an iPhone along with cash.
The gang struck while the car owner entered the hospital casualty unit. Criminals smashed the glass and took the valuables left inside. The exact amount of cash stolen remains unclear. Witnesses reported panic in the hospital premises after the incident.
Capital Hospital, one of Bhubaneswar’s busiest government medical facilities, attracts heavy crowds daily. The gang’s activity inside such a high-security zone raised serious questions about safety arrangements. Residents pointed to the absence of CCTV surveillance and security guards in the parking area.
Similar car glass-breaking incidents have occurred across Bhubaneswar in recent months. Police previously launched operations against such gangs, but the latest case shows their activities continue. These gangs often target crowded places like hospitals, temples, and festival grounds.
Commissionerate Police began investigating the case at the Capital Police Station. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and recording witness statements. Police assured that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the culprits quickly.
Authorities urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid leaving valuables inside parked vehicles. Police advised the use of alarms, cameras, and secure parking zones to reduce risks.
