Malkangiri: The Excise Department Officials destroyed a cannabis plantation worth over Rs 3 crore in the forest areas near Sukriput village under Mathili police station in Malkangiri district.
Based on intelligence, the team of cops conducted a raid in that forest area and destroyed 36,000 ganja plants cultivated on 24 acres of land. The estimated value of the cannabis is Rs 3,60,000,000.
A case has been registered at the Mathili Excise Police Station and further investigation has been initiated. The Revenue Department has been requested to inspect the land where cannabis was cultivated and submit a report. After receiving the report, the Excise Department will identify the farmer and take action, said an official.
