In a decisive push towards citizen-centric governance and expeditious justice delivery, the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department, Government of Odisha, organised a special Camp Court at UNNATI Bhawan.
The court was presided over by Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, H&UD, on directions from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
✅ Key Highlights:
- 139 appeal cases were disposed of in a single day.
- Cases pertain to appeals under the Odisha Development Authorities (ODA) Act, 1982.
- Over 700 pending appeals, primarily under BDA and BMC jurisdiction.
- Senior officers appointed as appellate authorities to streamline processes.
🛠️ Decentralised Appellate Mechanism: To accelerate case resolution, the government has authorised additional officers — including the Director of Municipal Administration, Special Secretaries, and Additional Secretaries — as appellate authorities under the ODA Act. This move marks a strategic shift towards a more decentralised and efficient grievance redressal system.
🌐 Public Response & Future Roadmap: The Camp Court initiative has received positive public feedback, reflecting a strong commitment to transparency and accountability. It is set to continue in phased sessions to clear remaining appeals in a time-bound manner.
