In a tragic and deeply disturbing development, the 15-year-old girl from Balanga, Odisha, who was critically injured in a brutal arson attack on July 19, 2025, has passed away while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi.
The news has sent shockwaves across the state, reigniting concerns over the safety of women and girls in the region.
The victim was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar immediately after the attack and later airlifted to Delhi on July 20 for advanced medical care. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries.
In a heartfelt statement posted on X, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi lamented, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the girl’s death. Despite all efforts and the expertise of doctors, her life could not be saved. I pray for her soul’s peace and strength for her family to bear this irreparable loss.”
