One person was killed and 6 others sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned inside the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)’s Dulanga coal mine in Sundargarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Nityananda Pradhan from Pudapali. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Brajrajagar for urgent medical care.

The mishap took place during a shift change, when the bus carrying over 30 operators turned turtle within the mine premises.

In response to the incident, mine workers have halted operations, protesting against the alleged lack of safety measures at the workplace. Authorities have initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
