Security forces recovered a concealed Maoist explosives cache during a joint anti-Naxal operation in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on July 24.
Acting on specific intelligence, personnel of COB Ghanabeda (177 Battalion BSF) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) conducted an intensive search in the rugged forest terrain under Jodambo Police Station limits.
The operation led to the discovery of a hidden dump between Arapadar and Ghusumpadar villages, containing three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing 3 kg each, 32 gelatin sticks, 11 detonators, 500 grams of gunpowder, Cordex wire, batteries, a solar panel, radio, torches, iron nails, and other materials used for making IEDs.
Officials said the recovery has prevented potential Maoist attacks, enhancing safety for both security personnel and residents along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. Once a Maoist stronghold, Malkangiri has seen increasing dominance of security forces in recent years, restoring normalcy in the region.
Authorities reiterated that intelligence-driven operations will continue to dismantle Maoist infrastructure and ensure lasting peace in southern Odisha.
