A bomb threat at the Delhi High Court on Friday triggered a full-scale evacuation after an anonymous letter claimed that three explosives had been planted inside the judge’s chamber and other areas of the premises.
The letter warned that the “judge’s chamber will detonate shortly after mid-day Islamic prayers,” and demanded evacuation by 2 PM.
The threat also alleged links to Pakistan’s ISI cells, heightening the urgency of the response. Bomb detection and disposal teams (BDDT), along with the Bomb Dog Squad, were deployed immediately. The court premises were thoroughly searched, and no explosives were found, leading authorities to declare the threat a hoax.
This incident follows a series of similar threats earlier in the week, including bomb alerts at Maulana Azad Medical College, University College of Medical Sciences, and the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat, all of which were also proven false after investigation.
Police officials, including Deputy Commissioner Prashant Gautam, confirmed that standard operating procedures were followed to ensure safety without causing panic. The Delhi Fire Service also dispatched multiple fire tenders as a precautionary measure.
Security agencies remain on high alert as investigations continue to trace the origin of the threat emails and assess any coordinated intent behind the recent spate of hoaxes.
