Four Critically Injured After Swing Collapses During Maa Hingula Yatra in Talcher

Four people were seriously injured on Sunday when the popular ‘Dragon Doli’ swing suddenly broke during the ongoing Maa Hingula Yatra and Lok Mahotsav festival in Talcher.


The victims have been identified as Hema Gochhayat (40) and Sashmita Gochhayat (33), both from Kuruda village under Jarapada police station in Angul district, along with Loveli Shuni (16) and Sita Singh (25) from the Talcher area.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Medical College & Hospital in Talcher by ambulance. Their condition is reported to be serious.

The Maa Hingula Yatra and Lok Mahotsav had begun on March 31 and was attracting large crowds. Following the incident, the Talcher administration and police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Officials have assured that all necessary steps are being taken for the treatment of the injured.
