The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced its plans to set up its own fuel station and garage facility.
With a fleet of over 500 vehicles requiring daily refueling and maintenance, this initiative aims to reduce reliance on private service providers while ensuring better management of resources.
The proposed facility, set to offer both diesel and petrol, may even extend its services to the public, creating an additional revenue stream for the civic body. Discussions during a recent BMC meeting led to overwhelming support for this idea, as corporators recognised the benefits of adopting a business model approach to fueling operations.
The project is set to be located near the Temporary Transit Station (TTS), with work expected to commence soon. Following the example of similar initiatives in major municipal corporations across India, BMC anticipates significant cost savings and faster turnaround for vehicle maintenance.
