In a firm assertion of party discipline, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended two senior block presidents from the Jayadev Assembly Constituency with immediate effect for their alleged involvement in anti-party activities.
According to an official order issued today from Sankha Bhawan, Kishore Jena, President of Balipatna Block, and Pradipta Jenamani, President of Balianta Block, have been removed from the party. The letter cites their role in activities that went against the party line.
The move comes barely days after the expulsion of Jayadev BJD MLA Naba Kishore Mallick for defying the party whip in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
Party sources reveal that both block presidents were known close associates of the expelled MLA. Loyal BJD workers had repeatedly raised concerns and even submitted a demand letter to former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, urging the high command to act against such indiscipline.
Today’s suspension order has been widely welcomed by senior party workers, who see it as a long-awaited step to restore unity and accountability at the grassroots level.
In a parallel organisational reshuffle aimed at strengthening the constituency, BJD has also constituted a new seven-member Constituency Coordination Committee for Jayadev AC.
The committee includes:
- Tribikram Dash, Balipatna
- Biranchi Narayan Kar, Balianta
- Mangaraj Behera, Balianta
- Baburam Mallick, Balipatna
- Bijay Nayak, Balianta
- Sadasiba Dash, Balipatna
- Nigamananda Das, Balianta
The committee will come into force immediately to bolster organisational activities and ensure better coordination in the assembly segment.
