Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday named Abanti Das as its candidate for the November 3 by-election to Dhamnagar Assembly Constituency in Bhadrak district.
Abanti Das is currently the chairperson of Tihidi block.
The by-election was necessitated after the demise of BJP MLA Bishnu Charan Das on September 19.
Earlier this afternoon, the Congress named Baba Harekrushna Sethi as its candidate for Dhamnagar by-election while the BJP has fielded Suryabanshi Suraj, the son of Bishnu Charan Das, as the party candidate for the ensuing Dhamnagar by-poll.
