In a proactive step ahead of the Election Commission of India’s upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik has constituted a powerful State Level Monitoring Team to ensure robust preparation at the grassroots level.
Issued on May 20, 2026, the official order directs the team of senior BJD leaders to immediately review the status of Booth Level Agent (BLA) appointments, their training, and capacity-building exercises across all Assembly Constituencies in Odisha.
The team is expected to submit weekly progress reports directly to the BJD President.
The six-member team comprises:
- Pramila Mallik
- Niranjan Pujari
- Pratap Jena
- Dr. Sasmit Patra
- Bhrugu Baxipattra
- Bijay Nayak
This move signals BJD’s serious intent to strengthen its organisational machinery well in advance of the SIR, which is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026.
As Odisha’s political landscape heats up, this timely decision underscores BJD’s focus on meticulous groundwork and grassroots empowerment ahead of future electoral challenges.
