Bhubaneswar: Odisha Higher Education Department on Wednesday sought a status report on the investigation into the death mystery of BJB College student Ruchika Mohanty, who allegedly committed suicide over ragging.
Principal Secretary, Higher Education Bishnupada Sethi has written a letter to Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh asking him to submit a present inquiry status report by today (October 12).
Ruchika, a Plus III first-year Arts student of BJB College, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the hostel room of the college.
A purported suicide note, believed to be written by her, revealed that she was tortured by three of her seniors for which she took the extreme step. However, she had not mentioned the names of the students.
