Bill Gates, the co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, met Union Minister JP Nadda and other Indian leaders to discuss the country’s advancements in healthcare and technological innovation.
The visit marked another milestone in fostering collaboration between India and the foundation.
In a meeting with JP Nadda, Gates explored India’s progress in areas such as maternal health, immunization, and sanitation. Both parties expressed commitment to renewing their Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for all citizens. Gates commended India’s efforts in making medicines, diagnostics, and vaccines more affordable on a global scale.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Gates to discuss India’s journey toward achieving the ambitious “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” initiative. Gates praised the country’s leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) and its application in healthcare, agriculture, education, and climate resilience. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Gates Foundation and the India AI Mission is set to advance AI-driven solutions in these sectors.
During his address at the “Future Forward” event, Gates lauded India’s contributions to vaccine production and its role in making life-saving innovations accessible worldwide. Companies like Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech were highlighted as key players in this global impact.
This marks Gates’ third visit to India in three years, underscoring the growing partnership between the Gates Foundation and the nation. Further collaboration is anticipated to drive innovation and progress across multiple domains.
