A major revelation surfaced in Bhubaneswar after police confirmed that the Chandrasekharpur Thar hit-and-run case stemmed from a love triangle.
The incident, initially seen as an accident, turned into a murder investigation after the DCP disclosed that the accused deliberately ran over the victim following a violent clash.
The youth from Kaipada in Khordha district died near Acharya Harihar College Square when a Thar SUV hit his motorcycle. Investigators found that the accused attacked him with a cricket stump before driving the vehicle over him. The DCP said eyewitnesses confirmed the sequence of events and that more arrests will follow.
Police detained five suspects and seized the Thar used in the crime. The victim’s sister alleged that one of her brother’s friends was directly involved, claiming he led the assault before the fatal run-over. She said her brother was returning home when the group ambushed him after a quarrel at a lassi shop.
Officers interrogated the detained men and verified CCTV footage showing the Thar chasing and hitting the motorcycle. The DCP stated that the attack was planned and motivated by jealousy linked to a love triangle.
